We Provide Tachometer Drive Assemblies for all /2's from 1955 to 1969

The units built for the 1955 to 1965 machines are one of the rarest of all BMW vintage accessories and are no longer available, until now.   

We provide two period correct units.  The 1955 to 1965 units are custom made in our machine shop and were built to replicate original equipment, but better.  These units can be lubricated internally via an external zerk fitting.  These units run off the original factory installed 6mm allen bolt at the end of the camshaft.   We also provide the 1965 to 1969 units which run off the oil pump and are available direct from our supplier in Deutschland.

History

Originally the 1955 to 1965 units ran off a slotted bolt and paddle drive.  Cost,  was the reason a slot and paddle drive system was used.  To produce a unit that could run off the original 6mm allen bolt would require many more machine hours because it would involve fabricating a gearbox parallel and perpendicular to the cam shaft at extremely close tolerances.  By using a slotted hex bolt and paddle drive,  the alignment could be far less than perfect.  However,  perfection is what our skilled machinists are always trying to accomplish which brings us to the units we produce.

Quality

Our units are built to run directly off the original 6mm allen bolt and require over 10 hours of highly skilled machine time.   Next, a fit check is accomplished.  Then it is road tested to insure perfection.  Finally,  it is removed from the test bike and glass bead blasted to match the original factory finish.  After all this delicate machine work and tuning, the units can be reinstalled on your machine in less than 30 minutes.
