(06/10/2023) I just want to thank Mr. Jonnie Walker for providing me with an exceptional Vintage Motorcycle Tachometer Drive Assembly for my recently restored 1965 BMW R60/2 that was done by myself. Also, he has provided me with a wealth of information relating to the care of my motorcycle and the precision units that he manufactures himself. He wanted to personally walk me through the process and installation of the unit and make sure that I was comfortable with the procedure for making sure that the unit performs smoothly and without any problems. I will recommend his product to anyone wanting to install a tach assembly on their Vintage machines.
(11/17/2024) I ordered and received one of Jon Walkers tach drives for my vintage BMW, 1960 R50 with steib sidecar, and am very happy with the product. He precision machines the components for the drive and installation was a breeze. Only issue was the tach instrument itself was malfunctioning from a vendor manufacturing defect, and Jon sent out a replacement immediately. Jon is very friendly and informative on the BMWs. He gave me many hints and tips on how to keep my machines in tiptop shape. I will be ordering another unit for my other vintage BMW, 1960 R69. Not only is the drive functional, it really brings out the beauty in these old machines.
(2/22/2017) We installed a tachometer drive assembly this week supplied by BMW Vintage Machine Works. Following the provided instructions, the installation went smoothly. The positioning of the tachometer head and cable are important and must be routed per the provided instructions. Likewise the positioning of the gearbox on the front cover is critical so it will work with the supplied cable. But overall, the installation was clean and straight forward, and it works!

(1/10/2017) I recently bought a camshaft driven tachometer drive unit from BMW Vintage Machine Works located in Woodinville Washington. Jonnie Walker is an accomplished machinist and he has designed and built a very accurate and period correct camshaft right angle drive unit. The hex drive he supplies fits directly into the stock 6mm Allen bolt which holds the centrifugal advance, cam and magneto armature. It took approximately 15 minutes following his clear instructions to install the drive unit. I am very happy with this installation on my newly restored BMW R50S.
I am a retired United Air Line Captain as well as a licensed Air Frame and Power Plant mechanic. I am also a hobby machinist and can appreciate the attention to detail and accuracy of Jonnie's work. I am sure the addition of this tachometer drive unit has added greatly to the value of my fully restored R50S. I got an early start with BMW motorcycles as my father ran a dealership on our farm in Illinois back in the 60s.

Last weekend (31 of January 2016) I mounted the tachometer assembly on my BMW R60 and the result was fantastic. I followed the very detailed instruction sheet from Jon. All material I got were as described and quite easy to install. The fit and finish of all the parts were perfect and complete. Two issues seem to be very important for a successful installation: the routing of the drive cable and the alignment of the gearbox. This must be done correctly for the proper operation of this drive assembly. The Tachometer drive runs smoothly and shows the correct revolutions per minute of the engine.
I give my unrestricted recommendation for this Tachometer Drive Assembly. Also the communication with Jon was pleasant and very friendly. Thanks Jon!

Hats off: somebody who actually knows what he is talking about and has the technical expertise to back it up! My 1968 BMW R69US presented unusual installation problems for the VDO tachometer, and Jon met the challenges brilliantly. He tirelessly addressed the issues and succeeded. He is the best.
